Authors@Google: Michael Gates Gill

Posted By: admin on in Health - Comments: No Comments »

In his fifties, Michael Gates Gill had it all. By the time he turned sixty, he had lost everything except his Ivy League education and his sense of entitlement. First, he was downsized at work. Next, an affair ended his twenty-year marriage. Then, he was diagnosed with a slow-growing brain tumor. Gill had no money, no health insurance, and no prospects. One day as Gill sat in a Manhattan Starbucks, a 28-year-old Starbucks manager named Crystal Thompson approached him, half joking, to offer him a job. With nothing to lose, he took it, and went from drinking coffee in a Brooks Brothers suit to serving it in a green uniform. Michael Gates Gill is the son of New Yorker writer Brendan Gill and he was a creative director at J. Walter Thompson Advertising where he was employed for over 25 years. He currently lives in New York within walking distance of the Starbucks store where he works, and has no plans to retire from what he calls the best job he’s ever had. Children’s Rights, Public Service or Market Rules? The right to education and health are the most basic of children’s rights and should be a priority in public policies. All too often, however, the state fails to deliver on its obligations. 1) Is the degradation of public services an inevitable product of a globalized world? 2) Can privatization provide solutions that meet basic needs and do not exclude major sections of society? 3) What can be done to ensure that poor and marginalized groups benefit from economic and technological innovations? [HD] Radiohead – Toronto 2003 [Part 1/12 Songs]

Posted By: admin on in Medical - Comments: 25 Comments »

Took me a few weeks to put this one up, had to ask for permission from formengr before putting it up. It was on the PureLiveGigs but you had to download it from the Radiohub. For those not in the know, the Radiohub has a lot of Radiohead content on, but it is solely for the purpose of sharing between the people who use the hub, not for mass consumption like my Radiohead channel is. However with it being listed on PLG, I asked Formengr if that meant it was ok to be used here, and he ok’d that on Saturday. It’s great to see Thom halt a song to help someone who is in need of medical assistance, and even keeps the crowd updated on the guys wellbeing, what a nice bloke. Apparently this misses “The Gloaming” which was the first song played. A Standup Comedian Each Day Helps Keep The Doctor At Bay

Posted By: on in Uncategorized - Comments: No Comments »

A Standup Comedian is just like a physician. She helps keep your body healthy by making you giggle. Laughing isn’t just associated with facial expressions. It brings about a number of chemical changes inside the body. Good vigorous laughter helps discharge enzymes and hormones that are great for regular functioning of different internal organs. This is a result of an association between laughing and stimulation of brain and different glands. Laughter enhances your body to produce normal antihistamines. Additionally, it triggers T-cells, a natural antibiotic made in the body. It can help increase the immune system and combat infections. It prevents a number of diseases by building up the body’s defense mechanisms.

New scientific studies into the mysteries of the human body’s incredible ability to cure itself are spinning up some unexpected theories. Recent studies by the Journal of the American Medical Association have shown a drastic difference among the general well-being and health of people who have a great vigorous laugh frequently, and the ones who do not share a similar sense of laughter. It would appear that under a chemical evaluation from the blood stream and the electro-chemical signals from the brain, that the action of laughing secretes a powerful cocktail of excellent hormones, cellular material and nutrients which benefit various organs and functions of the entire body.

This particular discharge is caused by a mysterious link in between laughing and the arousal with the human brain and a variety of glands. Within the study conducted by the particular Journal it had been discovered that laughing produces an all natural antihistamine made by your body. Under clinical research a broad number of women and men that suffered from allergic reactions were subjected to the irritants that triggered their allergic reactions. The identical team was later shown a ninety minute comedy movie while being exposed to the same allergens. Surprisingly every single subject suffered much less severe or milder allergy symptoms to the triggers than they got devoid of the comedy activation.

Laughing does more for you personally than a therapeutic massage or perhaps a hot bath might accomplish. It’s not hard to do. It only takes some tuning in from you. It is also free of charge, and this is exactly what people mean whenever they point out the best things in life are free of charge. You pay nothing to laugh, yet the benefits last a life span and don’t have to be evaluated. Watching others have a good laugh features a great result also, unless you are the coldest person on earth.

A Standup Comedian is really great for yourself. Assuming this isn’t true; other peoples’ laughs could motivate you and cheer you up, even if you do not know those who are laughing. This is something you will want to catch from other people. Life could be more pleasant if we laugh often. Help make everything grow to be funny. Today I will show you the key behind laughing. Laughing is a way for us for long life. The truth is laughing will keep us away from anxiety. Connect with old pals and share regarding a humorous tale.

Laser Hair Removal Options

Posted By: on in Medical - Comments: No Comments »

Every spring, would-be beachgoers adopt strenuous exercise regimens to lose a few pounds, or risk skin disease while spending hours in tanning beds, all in search of the elusive “beach body”. But while they’re worried about waist size or skin tone, too many ignore one of the biggest detriments to the swimsuit look: excess body hair. Luckily, permanent hair removal can be done far more quickly and safely than you’d expect.

There are many ways to remove unwanted body hair, but most of them aren’t thorough. Using a razor in the bathroom will give you a day or two of hairlessness at most, while topical ointments can be painful and messy. A better long-term solution than any of this can be found in the process of laser hair removal.

Unlike other methods, laser hair removal can be permanent – over time and several sessions, 90% or more of unwanted hair in a given region can be removed forever. And the little hair that’s left will be thinner, lighter, and all-around far more difficult to see.

This is a non-invasive treatment that doesn’t involve needles, chemicals or any of the pain and side-effects that come with them. It’s simply a laser that acts on the color pigment in the hair follicles themselves, thinning and weakening them until the hairs themselves are destroyed. An average of 4 to 8 monthly sessions are typical to complete the job, since different sections of hair grow and lay dormant in cycles.

Laser treatments have grown very popular in recent years; today, roughly 1.5 million removals occur every year in the United States. The lasers are safe and can treat just about any part of the body: back hair, facial hair, legs, chest, bikini areas, and so on. Only skin areas very close to the eye cannot be treated.

Laser hair removal will be more successful for some than others. Because the laser acts on the dark pigment color within the hair, the most successful cases are those with lighter skin color and darker hair. In general, blond or gray hair color is more difficult for the laser to distinguish from the skin. This, of course, does not mean that the laser will ignite dark skin! Laser hair removal is one of the least painful methods of hair removal, although a little pain may still be experienced during the first session, due to the hair beginning to weaken.

The treatment is also as fast as it is effective. Although other permanent removal processes such as electrolysis can take over 100 hours, one average laser treatment may take an hour or two. Small areas, such as an upper lip, can be treated in a matter of minutes.

Besides being fast and effective, laser hair removal may be cheaper than you think. Consult the licensed professionals at your local laser spa for package deals and a consultation to determine which procedure will best help you achieve the beach body you’ve always wanted – and keep it that way.

The New Samsung Wave Super Amoled Display

Posted By: on in Health - Comments: No Comments »

Does the world really need another smart phone platform? Samsung hopes to blind our skepticism with the Wave, the first device based on its open bada OS. Just announced at Mobile World Congress, this handset boasts a dazzling 3.3-inch touchscreen powered by Super AMOLED technology and TouchWiz 3.0, the latest version of Samsungs custom user interface. An analyst research note Tuesday shed more light on what makes Apple’s iPhone 4 tick, noting that the recently released Samsung Wave S8500 smartphone uses the same central processing unit, or CPU, as the iPhone 4.

The Apple A4 chip used in both the iPad and iPhone 4 is manufactured by Samsung, which has a longstanding “foundry” (chip manufacturing) relationship with Apple.

On Tuesday, UBM TechInsights added some color to the dynamics of the Apple-Samsung collaboration by claiming that the Samsung Wave S8500 smartphone uses the same 1GHz core as the iPad and, by extension, the iPhone 4–which also uses the A4 processor. In general, this type of processor is referred to as an application processor and is one part of the overall design called a system-on-a-chip or SOC.

The Samsung Wave offers a Super AMOLED 3.3″ display that makes the screen truly come alive, a Social Hub to bring you closer to your contacts and connections, and TouchWiz 3.0 for an intuitive and hugely customizable user interface. The Wave’s high-speed CPU ensures swift, smooth application experiences and multi-tasking, making the device an always-on mobile multimedia companion. The Samsung Wave has been built to offer users an unrivalled level of performance, customization and choice in how they connect with their world. The stunning full touch mobile will be available globally from April 2010.

The AMOLED tech behind the 3.3-inch (800 x 480) display promises to provide a brighter and crisper picture with less reflections than current phone displays. So it should serve as a gorgeous canvas for Samsungs new TouchWiz 3.0 interface. This UI improves on previous versions by adding customizable menus and home screens. So, one could make the music player easily accessible from the home screen. Or, taking a cue, perhaps, from MOTOBLUR, users also have the option of making their social networking tools Twitter, Facebook, IM easily accessible from the home screen. More details and photos after the jump.

The Samsung Wave truly demonstrates our commitment to deliver rich, connected and innovative smartphone experiences to everyone, said JK Shin, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. Samsung Wave sees our platform vision become a reality. For the first time, developers have the freedom to create applications across multiple platforms, for consumption on a huge range of devices. In the Wave, our developer partners can see the ocean of opportunity that is offered by the bada mobile platform and our device technology, he said.

Spec-wise, the phone has a fast 1-GHz processor, and is designed to run on GSM networks. It also packs 802.11n Wi-Fi radio and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity (both firsts), a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, 720p movie recording, DivX support, 2GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Our biggest question about the Wave is how good the Samsung Apps application store is. It promises games,
navigation, social networking, e-book, health and lifestyle applications, but were not sure how many developers will want to write for a single manufacturer (thats not Apple).

The Samsung Wave provides superior levels of choice to all users via its fully customizable menus and home-page. For those who demand access to their social networking sites at all times, the device allows users to change the layout of the home-page to allow instant access to Twitter, Facebook and a host of other social networking services. For those who love music, the device home-page can be turned into an intuitive media player; while for those who take and share a lot of photos, the home page can be customized to feature favorite images. Users will also benefit from Quick Panel, a way of prioritizing and aggregating applications into one screen for instant access. With its eye-catchingly brilliant screen, Samsungs latest TouchWiz 3.0 user interface gives a tactile, intuitive user experience, and includes iconic new features such as motion UI, Smart Unlock and customizable widget screen.

Samsung’s bada platform allows mobile users to simply and easily download an abundance of applications from Samsung Apps, an integrated application store accessible from the device and online. Featuring a wealth of games, navigation, social networking, e-book, health and lifestyle applications, Samsung Apps gives users instant access to a huge choice of mobile experiences. Samsung established its mobile application ecosystem through the launch of Samsung Mobile Innovator in 2008 and the Samsung Application Seller Site followed by Samsung Application Store as another key element of this offering. Already launched in the UK, France, Italy, Singapore, Germany, Brazil and China, this will be expanded to more than 50 countries all over the world in 2010.
